Friday eye candy: Givenchy

Ricardo Tisci on accepting the offer to be Givenchy's fashion director.  "[...] my mother called me and said to me, ‘I am going to tell you something I haven’t even told your sisters: I think I am going to sell our house because your sisters are struggling, they’re having children, they need the money. I will go to a retirement home.’ When I heard that it was like a knife in my heart. I felt like such a failure, that my mother had to sell the house of my father whom I don’t remember. And then I went to Paris, and they showed me a contract with all these zeros on it, and it was like help from God." from Wikipedia.  I already love him.
It's interesting how some posts develop.  I started with a different idea for today's post until I realized that most of the images I selected had something Givenchy in them.  From Clutches to stunning patterned clothes to bags and accessories, everything Ricardo Tisci creation is simply amazing.  No one makes the wild and gothic side look this sophisticated better than him.  Enjoy!

Sweaters: How to make them look interesting

Since Fall is in full bloom here in Sao Paulo I tend to wear a lot of sweaters-sweaters with skirt, with pants, with jeans and so on.  But a sweater can be a bit blah if considering its regular shape.  I think it’s always a good idea to look around for inspiration on how to make any piece of typical garment look more interesting; in this case a sweater.  I like the idea of layering it on top of a shirt, sort of like in a peek-a-boo way.  Another great way to wear a jacket or blazer on the shoulders and above all and by far my favorite is to wear a big statement necklace on top.  Enjoy!

Slip on it

It's nice to dress up and look very much like a lady, but it gets to a bit too comic to be running in high heels while trying to catch a flight, walking up subway stairs, grocery shopping and well you get the point.  And trust me I've seen a bunch.  Many days all we want is to slip on a pair of comfy shoes and hit the road contentedly and chic.  The extra inch or two doesn't hurt women's vanity either.  Enjoy!

If you liked it, then you should have put a cap on it

In fashion I'm always drawn to the styles that make me look and keep younger and the sporty-chic look doesn't only do that, but is also effortlessly-chic.  I don't like to get too dress up for daily life cos' I find it not inspiring.  Anyone can dress up and look good but not everyone can practically dress down and still look chic.  My sense of style has changed like weather from season to season and I'm happy about that.  Before I would never have thought of wearing a baseball cap, now I find myself a bit obsessed with it, wearing it almost everyday lately and it's amazing who young and active it makes me feel.  Keep young and enjoy!

Negin Mirsalehi: A unique style

If you have been on the popular page of Instagram then you have seen her pretty face many times.  I came across Negin Mirsalehi that way as well and I've being following her ever since and then I found out she has a blog.  In her blog which has her name, she is not afraid to share her beauty secrets with her readers and inspire us all with her everyday put together outfits.  I love not only her sense of style where she combines high and low fashion effortlessly but also how pretty and sweet she looks in her pictures and in her interactions with her readers.
Negin says that fashion is an expression of how she feels each day.  "One day I wake up and I feel very feminine wearing a dress and the other day I love a distressed pair of jeans, an over-sized sweater and some biker boots. I also love mixing styles, so for instance feminine and edgy (I love to wear complete black outfits, so simple yet sophisticated)".
She started her blog as a way to communicate better with her followers.  Check it out!

Christine Centenera: A Style Icon

 Stunning fur coat
Christine Centenera is the fashion editor of Harper's Bazzaar Australia and is my top style icon, so far.  There is an automatic *sigh* that comes out of me every time I look at a picture of her rocking one of those perfect outfits.  Her fashion sense is feminine, edgy, modern and a bit futuristic at the same time.  Only her shoes by themselves deserve a trophy.  Judge by yourself!
