A Marbella peaceful home

Now and then when it comes to decoration one can get to the point where enough is enough. Anything too pretty, too perfect, too new and well, you get the point, can become dull and lifeless. On the other hand, so is the opposite because no one wants to live out of a tent on an empty lot like a nomad. As in everything else in life, it turns out that balance is one thing to keep in mind when decorating a home. This Marbella home which I'm sure some of you may have seen before, strikes that balance between elegance and restraint. It's the sort of house that everything inside and outside share a similar peace and importance. The perfect home to get away for a few days. Enjoy!

A cozy home by Concha Rodriguez

The exposed wood columns in this beautiful home designed by Concha Rodriguez has an inviting and cozy feeling that invites one to come in, sit down and possibly ever go back out.

The days are getting colder here in Sao Paulo where this weekend is a long Holiday. I can't help but wish to be in a place like this, get swallowed up by that puffy daybed and only get up to eat. Although I don't see a fireplace it is encouraging to imagine one. Enjoy!

Ilse predominant aim is to make usually cold architecture warm and real and transform them into spaces with feelings of being there longer and fit for family. Remember this very leading dining room designed by Ilse I posted a while ago? The space was of a magnificent size taking the main role in the house. Well that's because Food is in her own words "a social glue" Nuevo Estilo magazine editors granted Ilse Crawford with "The Special Award" this year. Well deserved!

A Museum-worthy home

I have that same diamond cube cocktail table in black.

Last night while perusing Pinterest I came across this living room above. The entire home was featured in Nuevo Estilo and since I'm always looking for inspiring interiors from the very popular magazine I couldn't believe I never came across its designer and owner Ramon Garcia Jurado. More so when the style of the apartment is like those I like to go through here. It has pretty much the things I covet, architectural items to enhance the more simple interior architecture with a mixture of neoclassical furniture and modern pieces. Enjoy!

To prove more my love for this flat the library has three pieces I covet, a 1940's Swedish sideboard, an Empire Swedish console and my all time favorite chair, Klismos.

The sculpture hanging from the ceiling is stunning and that desk is all me.

I vote for the use of modern furniture and art in homes with ornate architecture.

The first concern for Ignacio Garcia de Vinuesa in redecorating this house was to preserve the beauty and ornate architectural details. To not touch its essence. Ignacio and Elisa Rodriguez whom is part of his studio, were determined on maintaining the ornate crown moldings, tall ceilings and wood work in this home to then decorate it with modern art and comfortable and beautiful furniture. They also reused the beautiful old doors after changing the entire layout of the house. In a complete transformation the result is what I call a very "Chic Home" with a touch of that young feel that I so much love. Enjoy!
