For the home: Masculine Kitchens

A masculine aesthetic is perhaps one that appeals to a much broader audience than a more feminine one especially if it's combined with industrial touches.  As a matter of fact many women, me included, prefer to keep away from the very feminine design, particularly from those with overdoses of fru-fru; aka. looking like a doll house.  As most of these masculine kitchens purposely imply, not only dark spaces can evoke a masculine atmosphere; good news for those who prefer light and clear spaces.  Chunky wood, metal, concrete, stainless steel, oxidized finishing on either wood or metal are only a few of the many options to keep in mind when going for a masculine kitchen.  Enjoy!

Kitchen of the week designed by Isabel Lopez Quesada

This kitchen I came across with is from a newly constructed farm house in Spain that Isabel Lopez Quesada created together with architect Pablo Carvajal.  It's hard to guess that this kitchen with that old and graciously run down feel is newly constructed.  There are many obvious elements that help create the ambiance of old, from the reclaimed wood-plank floor, the classic bin cabinet pulls to the curved over sized range hood.  I love the details of the rivets on the stainless steel backsplash.  The range is Lacanche.  Enjoy
