New York through my eyes

New York is definitely a magnetic and magical city! Many of its magic has to do with the good willingness of its people. New Yorkers like to share and provide information to those who need it. I've been living in New York, on and off, for more than twenty five years and the people in this City never fail to amaze me. Today for instance, I visited a jewelry maker, he ended up not being able to help me nevertheless he spent about 45 mints with me sharing all kinds of insight information, showing me around his studio while explaning me the entire process of jewelry casting and providing me with other companies information who could help me. I'm extremely happy when I'm in New York City, something about it brings a smile to my face every time. I love to play a tourist here and take lots of pictures. My broken heart goes to all the people who have lost a loved one and/or their homes during this terrible time in the US. New Yorkers have shown their best and greatest side during horrible times like this. This is when their solidarity and courage comes afloat the strongest.

Random Weekend: "The best makeup primer"

Sometimes I seem to have little fashion sense or better said, I favored my common sense. Like over the weekend, when we went for a brunchy-bite at Pastis in the Meatpacking District and literately sabotaged my cute, Century21-find, Valentino flats with a pair of unattractive gray socks. It was cold! I much rather enjoy running errands on a pretty cobblestone street, even when aesthetically unmatched, than not doing so at all. Like that, I went ahead and took care of a few things we needed to do, among them, replacing our router which apparently was getting old and visiting Kiehl's.

My husband has an obsession for stacking up on things. "Stack up sweetie pie. Get more." he oftentimes says, to which I always reply "Why? Should we be getting ready for a famine that I don't know about". But this time though, I did stack up on Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Because I don't only use it for it's over-night recovering effects but also as "the best make up primer" ever. It really is that good! I've had a longtime love and hate relationship with makeup, afraid that if using too much it will make my crow feet stand out. But when I go out at nights or for important events I use this Kiehl's product under tinted moisturizer and what it does is that makes the makeup run as smooth as a kid sliding down a snowy hill and not to mention the glow it adds. If you can, go to a Kiehl's store get a sample and try it. You'll see what I mean.

Chic Spaces: What makes them

I've been studying Interior Design, on my own and school, for years. On my own I love to try to understand the spaces I'm interested in and talk about most of them in this blog. As Joni from Cote De Texas once mentioned, design style is pretty much adjusted by region or state. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with weather because actually New York and New Jersey are one cotton ball throw away from each other, yet they could not be further apart in this department. A chic space for me is a space where things juxtapose with tension and friction, where according to conventional thoughts, things are not supposed to work but they do. A Luis XVI chair upholstered in black liquid leather and placed next to a Jacques Adnet side table would create that ambiance. Add an abstract painting on top and the whole feeling will get stretched out a bit more. It's like having a tension cord about to pop. A classic architectural home with modern art and edgy small furniture pieces would also create a very chic outlook. New York, in my opinion is the City that best codifies chic spaces. Maybe it's because of New York's own diversity and dynamism comes seeping into its interiors? Of course, chic spaces are all around us. Below are images that speak by themselves.
